Q... "How simple is the Safe-t-SLAB cable to Install?"

Q... "How much does it cost to run?"

A... Overall cost will depend on the area size to heat. By using the reduced off peak supply rates now available many supplies are available as low as 6.0 cents per KW-hr resulting in quite reasonable running costs.

Q... "What is the thickness of the heating cable?"

A... 6.0 mm diameter.

Q... "Why are your Safe-t-SLAB cables thicker than some other manufacturers?"

A... Firstly for safety our cables are a twin element cable, they comply and well exceed all guide lines set for Electromagnetic Radiation, while some of the thinner single conductor cables don't. Secondly this also gives better heat emission than thinner cables.

Q... "How hot will the floor get?"

A... Safe-t-SLAB units are designed to heat the floor surface to a level which will feel comfortably warm, but will never get too hot to walk on! The Thermostat regulates the floor temperature when the floor gets to the required temperature & then turns it on again as it begins to cool - thus keeping a constant temperature.

Q... "Can I regulate the temperature?"

A... Yes a simple control dial allows you to turn the heat generated by the unit up or down. For more information see our Thermostat Controls section on the downloads page.

Q... "Are there any special wiring requirements?"

A... See the Conduit Installation PDF Download showing connections through conduits made to sub-circuits forming part of your household wiring via a junction box in the wall. A qualified electrician must make the mains supply.

Q... "How long will it take the floor to heat up?"

A... How long it takes to heat the floor will vary depending on your sub-floor & its insulation. Generally, a concrete slab heat storage system may take up to two days to reach temperature for the initial warm up. This thermal mass will deliver heat during the daytime whilst turned off.

Q... "What floor surfaces are suitable?"

A... Any floor finish attached to the concrete slab is suitable due to the gentle heat release.

Q... "How long is the warranty on the Safe-T-Slab products?"

A... Yes all cables are backed by a manufacturer's 10 year warranty and thermostats are covered by a two year replacement warranty from date of purchase.

Q... "Can I buy Safe-t-SLAB locally?"

A... You can buy Safe-t-SLAB any where in Australia without leaving your home.

Q... "What options are available to me to purchase products from CBS Radiant Heating?"

Q... "Can the Safe-t-SLAB in-slab heating be used as the primary heat source?"

A... Yes, the system is designed to give 160 W/m2 for your room size. This also enables the slab temperature to recover at nighttime during the restricted hours of "Off Peak" tariff rates.

Q... "Would it cause any inconvenience to the tiler?"

A... Not at all, the cables are attached to the reinforcing steel 35 mm to 75 mm below the concrete surface.
